Time to Catch up!

Hello, readers!

FallInLoveWithReading

It’s chilly today – perfect reading weather! I have Brisingr by Christopher Paolini on audio book in the background as I write this and I’m loving this series. Fall is turning into Winter here in Colorado. Alexa informs me that there’s a 34% chance of snow today – up to 1″. I don’t mind at all – especially on the weekend! It’s an excuse for fuzzy socks, cozy blankets, fur-baby cuddles, yarn and books! And my dog is curdled up behind me on the couch, which is one of my favorite things in the world.

I’ve been gone for a while taking care of my mental health and working a ton of over time. And, not surprisingly, books have played a big role in my self-care and recovery. I have always loved books for the escapism, but I’m developing a soft spot for non-fiction and self-help, too.

Let me catch you up on what I’ve been reading …

Top 10 Thursday: Books I Can’t Believe I Haven’t Read Yet

Top 10

Happy Thursday, readers!!

I hope you’re having a GREAT day!

Today, I’ll be diving into my TBR list and coming at you with Top 10 books I can’t believe I haven’t read yet … I’m a little nervous!

How would you do this? 10 oldest on the tbr? 10 most recently added? most recently published? I’m making it the most impossible and just going for all of the above. My Goodreads To Be Read has 504 books on it right now. Imma be here for a bit…

In no particular order:

Lost December

  • Lost December
    • Richard Paul Evans

This was added to my TBR on 1/2/12, and I have a beautiful hardback copy. I love The Christmas Box series by Richard Paul Evans I just can not believe I haven’t read this one yet.

The kite runner

  • The Kite Runner
    • Khaled Hosseini

This book is so highly praised and gets great reviews. I added this to my TBR 1/9/14 and it’s normally available on e-book at my library without too much of a wait, I just find myself reaching for other things first.

Cinder

  • Cinder
    • Marissa Meyer

I’m going to get to this one soon. Has been on my tbr since 10/20/14. I read Renegades by Marissa Meyer this year and I LOVED it. I want to get to the Cinder series because it’s still mentioned and raved about on youtube. I’m a little over YA right now, but I’d be doing this a disservice by waiting any longer.

Uprooted

  • Uprooted
    • Naomi Novik

This book intimidates me. I think I have super high expectations and that’s why I haven’t picked it up yet. I don’t know. EVERY TIME I’m looking for my next book to read I look at this one and then chicken out.

The eye of the world

  • The Eye of the World
    • Robert Jordan

I am such a high fantasy fan, I know I’m on the naughty list for not having this one read already. I know once I get into I’ll want to binge read the series and won’t get to read anything else.

The invisisble library

  • The Invisible Library
    • Genevieve Cogman

I’ve started this twice. And enjoyed it both times. I just haven’t gotten in more than a few chapters before life stops and says nope, not today!

Oathbringer

  • Oathbringer
    • Brandon Sanderson

I’m totally avoiding this for two reasons. 1.) I LOVED the first two books in this series and have heard mixed reviews on this one. 2.) it’s HUGE!

the cat who

  • The Cat Who Could Read Backwards
    • Lilian Jackson Braun

This series is so near and dear to my heart, yet I’ve never read a single one. My Grandma LOVED these books! THOSE DARN CATS, she would say! She loved them on paperback or audiobook & I was always on the lookout for ones she hadn’t read yet. I plan to get to one of these this year for sure.

shadow and bone

  • Shadow and Bone
    • Leigh Bardugo

This is another one I’ve been stalling on because it’s YA, but the word sounds so emersive and I heard it’s a good idea to read this before you read the Six of Crows duology, which has been on my TBR for much longer than this.

his dark materials

  • His Dark Materials
    • Philip Pullman

I have heard amazing stories about this – mostly from people who read it as kids. I am still going to get to it, but I fear I’m missing out on the nostalgia of it.

break2

That’s all she wrote, folks. That’s what I’m going with. Did we have any books in common on our TBR? Let me know in the comments.
